Dr. Thomas Cantey, MD is a psychiatrist offering medication management to adult residents of New York. Dr. Cantey specializes in adult psychiatry, mood disorders, general medicine/psychosomatics and LGBT issues. His approach to care is rooted in his belief that treatment should be a partnership with his patients that is centered in improving the patients’ health. Dr. Cantey thinks that understanding how his patients would like to get better allows him to better provide assistance, advice and care in moving forward with them.

Dr. Cantey has always been interested in knowing why people do the things they do, particularly in the way people work with both their minds and bodies to achieve their goals. For this reason, he pursued a career in the behavioral health industry by obtaining his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine after he graduated from Yale University. In his personal life, Dr. Cantey enjoys writing, producing and performing music. He also meditates regularly as a form of self-care and has traveled to five out of seven of Earth's continents.
