About Me

I have committed myself to helping and healing others my entire life. Prior to realizing therapy was my passion, I worked in schools whose sole population was children with intense mental health issues. I learned a lot, mainly that I didn't want to hand out punishments all day. I wanted to help those kids on a real level.

Since leaving schools for good in 2003 I have embraced every opportunity to learn my craft. After getting my masters in 2004, I worked in a non-profit community clinic for four years in programs that took me directly into the livee and homes, of my clients. I attended school meetings with them,(something I was uniquely qualified to do - see? Everything does happen for a reason!) I attended appointments with them and their psychiatrists, other health providers, and even went to court. I dealt with outside agencies such as the Department of Children and Families and the juvenile justice system.

I joined the world of private practice in 2007, I was 28 years old. Since then I have gone through 2 divorces, one of which included a deployment to Iraq. I have been through every possible loop and whirl of life and managed to come out the other end in one piece. One generally happy, well-adjusted piece. I give credit for that to the immense amounts of support and trainings I have sought that taught me as much about how to help myself as it has how to help others.

I learned about using hypnosis to treat trauma and the technique of body-scanning to help dig deeper and ask for help from the one source that won't lie to you. I discovered energy healing through reiki - something that can, in fact, be done by distance. I also learned about healing crystals, essential oils, nutrition, meditation, and self-care. In 2012 I found Fearless Living - a brilliant work by Rhonda Britten (www.rhondabritten.com). Not only did learning it for myself stop fifteen years of panic attacks, I loved it so much, I am a soon-to-be: Certified Fearless Living Life Coach.

I've learned that there are two things that run our lives when we aren't aware of, and therefore not in control of, them. These things are: Trauma and Fear.

I have focused all of my energy on learning how to manage and disempower the things we can see that are silently running our lives. I look forward to sharing what I have learned with anyone who would like to work with me.

Qualifications

Experience

Marriage and Family Therapy-Related Employment Experience:

As part of my masters program I completed an internship at a residential facility for children and teens. This was a life-changing experience.

2004 - 2008 - IICAPS - Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychology Services - program run via Community Child Guidance Clinic, Manchester, CT. Program created and team-members trained by Yale University, New Haven, CT.

During my time at the above clinic I also worked in another in-home program called IFP (Intensive Family Preservation) where social services and therapy were conducted in the homes of clients.

I also served as a School Social Worker for several parochial schools in the town of Manchester.

In 2007 I embarked into the world of private practice psychotherapy. During this time I have learned wonderful techniques I use every day. Authenticity Therapy and Brief, Solution-Oriented Trauma Resolution (BSOTR) via a brilliant colleague, Yudit Maros. I have also been trained in Fearless Living, a program created by Rhonda Britten, that truly encapsulates all fear is and how to manage it.

I have also spent the past several years learning energy healing. Reiki, meditation, crystal healing, and essential oils as an alternative to traditional psychiatric medications, pain management, sleep assistance, and nutrition (www.mydoterra.com/erinsdoolittle).
