I've been a practicing and fully licensed psychiatrist since finishing residency in 2004. With an extremely diverse academic and clinical training background, I'm both a U.S. Board Certified Psychiatrist as well as an actively licensed Israeli Psychiatrist. I'm currently licensed to practice and prescribe in six U.S. states: Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, and Wisconsin.
I'm grateful for the extremely diverse psychiatric training and employment history, having treated acute and chronic clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Clients treated have had severe and major mental illnesses as well as less debilitating conditions.
In addition, I've had a long-standing interest in Integrative Medicine (formally known as Alternative, then Complimentary Medicine). Having been exposed to Dr. Andrew Weil's Integrative Medicine Fellowship training program at the University of Arizona as a medical student, I have a realistic sense of non-pharmaceutical interventions, and non-Western based interventions and somatic treatments. In addition, though informally trained, I've incorporated my significant readings and understanding of NLP (Neuro Languishing Programming) concepts .
I pride myself on my empathic and eclectic style of approaching mental health and 'dis'ease. I strive to provide personalized medicine, utilizing targeted interventions also adhere to Evidence-Based Medicine. There is no doubt that CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a powerful intervention modality that empowers the client. When possible, incorporating CBT techniques leads to lasting positive changes in mood and behavior.
My exposure, understanding, and work with neurophysiological concepts has helped to improve my confidence with selecting appropriate medications to prescribe for the various conditions
I frequently treat: Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar), Anxiety/PTSD/OCD, AD/HD, as well as adjustment disorders. In addition and when appropriate, I'm also available to provide ongoing care to stabilized clients with psychotic disorders.
Lastly I'm a certified and active Suboxone prescriber, receptive to prescribing Suboxone/Buprenorphine products when appropriate arrangements and complying with prescribing guidelines for this client population.
Seeking medication treatment is the most common reason for turning to a psychiatrist, though this is not always the best or optimal solution. I hope to meet the client where s/he is at; work collaboratively towards healing the soul, remembering and rediscovering the healthy inner spirit; and ultimately focusing on letting go, getting out of the 'stuck mode', and moving forward in order to resume a happy and meaningful life.
